Ellen Zimet was born in New York City but grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. After graduating from high school as an art major, she attended Pratt Institute in New York City where she graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Fashion Design and Merchandising.

Like so many others, her life’s journey took her down a wide variety of paths, which included fashion design, merchandising, teaching art and ceramics in middle schools, writing grants, serving as an administrator in the Los Angeles Unified School District at the school and district levels and finally as an educational consultant working throughout California and neighboring states.

Now retired and living half time in Ontario, California and half time in Warrenton, Oregon, she has had the opportunity to return to her first love – art. She has been studying with Karen Werner and Fealing Lin in California and many of the wonderful watercolor artists at Trail’s End Art Association, including Jo Pomeroy Crockett, Judith Fredrikson and Sheila Parsons.

Ellen is a member of the Associated Artists of the Inland Empire and Chaffey Community Art Association in California, Trails End Art Association in Gearhart, Oregon and the Palette Puddlers of Cannon Beach, Oregon and a non-juried member of the Watercolor Society of Oregon.
