The 16th annual Oregon Coast Jazz Party kicks off with “Opening Night,” featuring sets led by Terell Stafford on trumpet at 7 p.m., backed by Nicki Parrott on bass and vocals, Randy Porter on piano, and Lewis Nash on drums; Dena DeRose on piano and vocals at 8:10 p.m., backed by b assist Martin Wind and drummer Matt Wilson; and Roxy Coss on soprano and tenor saxes as well as flute at 9:15 p.m., backed by guitarist Larry Koonse, Dave Captein on bass, and Gary Hobbs on drums.
Presented by the Oregon Coast Council for the Arts, this session of the jazz party features reserved seating in the Alice Silverman Theatre at the Newport Performing Arts Center, equipped with the Meyer Constellation system’s superb acoustics.
